I haven’t heard of Far Out Foodz seasonings until recently. And I heard about it via a few people I follow on twitter. The people who are always grilling and posting some amazing looking dishes. They started tweeting about @faroutfoodz seasoning blends and the names of the flavors got me intrigued. They have flavors like Mango Habanero, Righteous Ranch, Groovy Greek, and Cajun Sprinkle (available in regular, hot, and extra hot).
Far out Foodz is a small family-owned company in Buford, Georgia making huge flavors.
For me personally, 2020 has been a year that I have concentrated on learning more about dry rubs and the way flavors work with meats and cooking methods, etc. So with Far Out Foodz seasonings all being dry and having some great names, and some of the best grillers and smokers on twitter using them, I had to check them out.
I ordered the following flavors, Groovy Greek, Cajun Sprinkle (of course, extra spicy), and Mango Habanero. I ran a poll on twitter and the overwhelming majority suggested I order Mango Habanero so I did and the review I promised will be in this post. Far Out Foodz is such a cool company they also sent me a sample of their Outlaw Blend Coffee, Smoky Habanero seasoning, and their It’s Italian seasoning. Thanks, Guys!
So since I promised I would do a review for Mango Habanero, I made this Youtube video trying a wing I air-fried using the Far Out Foodz Mango Habanero seasoning. I have to say, the wings were made on the fly, meaning that they were sprinkled with the Mango Habanero seasoning and then immediately air fried. After the wings did their time in the air fryer, I sprinkled a little more mango habanero on them and let them sit a few minutes. They had a great crunch and flavor. I tasted the Mango first, and then the Habanero arrived. The flavor balance is nice and I can taste the mango and the habanero separately. I am starting to see what all the hype is about. Even on day two, the wings were flavorful and very tasty after being warmed in the oven.
You really need to get your own Far Out Food seasonings, and you can do so by clicking here.
We also tested out Far Out Foodz Mango Habanero seasoning on chicken thighs we used for kabobs on the grill. As you can see in the pic below, the kabobs looked fantastic and the taste fresh off the grill was pure joy. I would suggest a light re-sprinkling the mango habanero before serving or a squirt of lime juice to add to the flavor melody. These kabobs did not keep as well as the chicken wings but were still good the next day, I didn’t heat them up, I just grabbed one from the fridge like a savage.
As for the other Far Out Foodz flavors, I am sampling, I have used the Cajun Sprinkle (Extra Hot) on fried eggs, and to spice up a gumbo and potato salad, all turned out good, the heat is exactly the level I like. I used the Smoky Habanero flavor to spice up some mashed potatoes that had smoked ham and cheese in them, and I have used the It’s Italian seasoning to make Italian garlic bread. I recommend all of these flavors. I have not had the opportunity to taste the Groovy Greek but am going to try and do something special with it so check back later for a review on that.
In summary, it is obvious that Far Out Foodz is producing a quality product and the flavors they advertise on their packets are on target. Order a variety of flavors for your spice cabinet and experiment with them, you can come up with some inventive creations.
