Rosenfeld's Jewish Deli behind the main counter

Rosenfeld’s Jewish Deli, Rehoboth, Review

It was our first time in Rehoboth Delaware, and we were looking for a sandwich. We pulled over and Google searched the local restaurants. The typical beach area chains were listed, and also a few local places. One, in particular, piqued our interest, Rosenfeld’s Jewish Deli, The reviews, and pics looked amazing, my wife thought the brisket sandwich sounds good, and I wanted a proper Reuben sandwich.

My wife asked me to go in and get the food and she gave me instructions to get something sweet too. I walked in, the restaurant is open, bright, clean, and busy. I walked up to the cashier to place my order, I explained to her that I had not been to a Jewish deli before and I would need help with the menu. Unfortunately, she did not have a nametag on so I did not get her name, I ordered a brisket sandwich plain for my wife and asked for mustard on the side. This sandwich comes on Jewish Rye toast. I ordered what is known as the Papa Joe sandwich, it is a Reuben sandwich with pastrami, and corned beef separated by a layer of sauerkraut or coleslaw, I chose sauerkraut, Russian dressing, melted Swiss, and served on toasted marble rye. And for the “something sweet” I ordered my wife the Cinnamon and Raisin bread pudding.

Rosenfeld’s Jewish Deli was bustling and the wait took about 15 minutes and all sandwiches are made to order. I heard a couple of customers comment on how nice it was to be able to come there again (assuming meaning after the COVID shutdown). A lot of the customers seem like regulars and they greeted the Rosenfeld’s staff by name. While I was waiting, I decided to go check out the cleanliness of the rest of the restaurant and restroom, the place looked immaculate and extremely clean.

We received our food and then went to the place where we decided to have our lunch. We unwrapped the food and it looked great, they don’t skimp on the meat for the sandwiches, the Russian dressing was on point and the sauerkraut was crisp and bright. And did I mention that you get two pickle spears with your sandwich? They are also delicious. The deli serves packaged kettle-cooked potato chips with their sandwiches which compliment them well. The brisket sandwich is stacked high with meat and it needs nothing on it! It is moist, fresh, and delicious. The brisket was so delicious, I have only had smoked brisket before and this was a new way to brisket for me. Even though my Poppa Joe was amazing, moist, flavorful and some of the best pastrami, sauerkraut, and corned beef, the next time I go to Rosenfeld’s Jewish Deli, I will be having a brisket sandwich.

Now let’s get to the dessert. The piece of cinnamon raisin bread pudding was huge! It was topped with a cinnamon-sugar crust that was baked on to it, the inside was creamy and on par with what I expect a good bread pudding to be. Warm, creamy, and moist, the crispy cinnamon-sugar crust on the outside of the bread pudding made for great textures while eating it. The bread pudding is served with a sweet sauce that came on the side and honestly, the bread pudding alone fulfilled our desire for sweet without needing to add the sauce.
